Terms of Service
These terms are the agreement between you and us about using Skin Memory. By joining the waitlist or creating an account, you accept them.
We've kept them readable. If something here seems unfair or unclear, tell us at contact@myskinmemory.app.
The short version
Skin Memory keeps a record of your skincare. It is not medical advice and cannot tell you what caused a reaction.
Your record is yours. Export it or delete it whenever you like, for free.
You need to be 16 or older.
The app is in development. Things will change, and some things will break.
If something about your skin worries you, talk to a doctor or pharmacist.
1 · Who we are
Skin Memory is an independent project operated by its founder, Amna Akhtar. We are not yet incorporated as a company; when we are, this page will name it and give its registered address. "We" and "us" mean the operator of Skin Memory. "You" means you.
2 · What Skin Memory is — and what it isn't
Skin Memory records what you change in your skincare routine, when you changed it, and what you noticed afterwards. It shows you what was already changing around a date you're asking about.
It is not medical advice. It does not diagnose conditions, identify what caused a reaction, judge whether something is medically serious, or recommend treatment. It is not reviewed or endorsed by a clinician, and we will never describe it as clinically reviewed, dermatologist-approved, or expert-approved, because it isn't.
Anything the app suggests — an observation period, a note that two products do similar work, a summary of what changed — is general information based on the record you entered. It is not a clinical judgement, and it may be wrong.
Skin Memory is not a substitute for professional care. If something about your skin concerns you, speak to a doctor or pharmacist. If you have symptoms that need urgent attention — difficulty breathing, swelling of the throat, mouth or face, a rapidly spreading rash, significant blistering — contact emergency services or urgent care immediately. Do not wait, and do not use this app to decide.
Never delay seeking medical advice, or disregard advice you've been given, because of something you read here.
3 · Who can use it
You must be at least 16, or older if that's the minimum age where you live. We ask before you create an account.
If we find out an account belongs to someone underage, we'll close it and delete the data.
You must give accurate information when you sign up, and keep your sign-in details to yourself. Tell us at contact@myskinmemory.app if you think someone else has access.
4 · Your account
One account per person. You're responsible for what happens under it.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, is used to harm someone, or is used to attack the service. Where we can, we'll tell you why and give you a chance to export your record first.
You can close your account whenever you want, from Settings.
5 · Your record belongs to you
Everything you put into Skin Memory — your products, your changes, your notes, your photos — stays yours. We don't claim ownership of it.
You give us permission to store and process it so the app can work. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account.
We do not sell your record, use it for advertising, or train AI models on it. How we handle it is set out in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
You can always get it out: a machine-readable export and a readable timeline, free, from your settings, without asking us. If we ever introduce paid features, export stays free — you should never have to pay to retrieve your own history.
6 · Using it properly
Please don't:
- use the app to give medical advice to someone else, or present its output as a clinical assessment;
- enter someone else's health information without their knowledge;
- try to access another user's data, or break, probe or overload the service;
- scrape the product catalogue or copy it in bulk;
- upload anything unlawful, or images of other people without their agreement;
- use the service to build a competing catalogue or dataset.
If you find a security problem, tell us at [SECURITY EMAIL] before telling anyone else. We won't pursue anyone who reports a genuine issue in good faith and gives us a reasonable chance to fix it.
7 · The app is in development
Skin Memory is early. Features will change, some will disappear, and some will not work as intended.
We may modify, suspend or discontinue any part of it. If we're discontinuing something you rely on, or shutting down entirely, we'll give you reasonable notice and time to export your record.
We don't promise the service will always be available, uninterrupted, or free of errors.
8 · Free and paid
The core of Skin Memory is free: recording products and changes, your timeline, warnings when two products do similar work, looking back at what changed, safety guidance, export and deletion.
We may introduce paid features later for advanced analysis and reporting. If we do, we'll say clearly what's included, and the free features listed above stay free. We won't move something you already rely on behind a payment.
Any paid terms — price, billing, renewal, refunds — will be shown before you're asked to pay, and added to these terms then.
9 · Our content
The software, design, text and catalogue are ours or our licensors'. You may use them to use the app. You may not copy, resell or redistribute them.
"Skin Memory" and our logo are ours. Please don't use them in a way that suggests we endorse you.
Product names and brands mentioned in the app belong to their owners. Listing a product isn't a claim about it, and no brand pays to appear.
10 · What we don't promise
The service is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
Specifically, we do not warrant that product information is accurate, complete or current — formulations change, and catalogue entries may be wrong or out of date. We do not warrant that any observation period, warning or summary is appropriate for you. Nothing the app produces is a clinical judgement.
11 · Limits on liability
Nothing here limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit.
Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for loss of profit or opportunity, or for any decision you make about your skin, your routine, or your health based on what the app shows you. It's a record, not a recommendation.
Where liability can be limited, ours is limited to [AMOUNT — e.g. the greater of what you have paid us in the last twelve months, or a fixed sum].
Some places don't allow these limits. If you're somewhere that doesn't, they don't apply to you.
12 · Ending it
You can stop at any time by deleting your account.
We may end this agreement if you break these terms seriously or repeatedly, or if we stop offering the service.
When it ends, your right to use the app stops, and your record is deleted as described in the Privacy Policy. Sections 5, 9, 10, 11 and 15 survive.
13 · Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you, we'll give you notice before it takes effect. Continuing to use the app after that means you accept it. If you don't, you can delete your account and export your record first.
Previous versions stay available.
14 · If we disagree
Tell us first at contact@myskinmemory.app. Most things are a misunderstanding, and we'd rather fix it than argue about it.
15 · Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION], and the courts of [JURISDICTION] have jurisdiction. If you're a consumer somewhere else, you keep any rights your local law gives you that can't be signed away, and you may be able to bring a claim locally.
16 · The rest
If part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies.
Not enforcing something once doesn't mean we've given it up.
These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about the service.
You can't transfer your rights under these terms. We can transfer ours if the business is sold or restructured, and we'll tell you if that happens.
